Latest Updates from Our Project:

YOU DID IT!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 12, 2021 at 11:13:36 PM

We are proud to announce that the Kickstarter for TinkerTurf Sci-fi Terrain 2.1 has come to a successful conclusion. Like a scene from a Business Checking services company commercial, everyone at TinkerHouse Games gathered ‘round the ol’ Zoom to watch the final numbers roll in:

  • 5,226 linear feet of Perimeter Wall
  • 909 SatComm installations
  • Over a mile of MagLev rail
  • $208,600 dollars.
  • 1,123 backers.

That last number is the most important. It represents you, as well as the 1,122 other distinguished folks of discernment and means that made this Kick happen. Folks that value quality. Strength. Beauty. Folks who, in just a few short months, will enjoy epic battles on dynamic terrain. Terrain worth fighting for.

To you, we say: this Kickstarter is a success only because you made it so. You have our immense and sincere gratitude. Thank you.

As a way to express that gratitude, we’re putting our thumb on the scale and unlocking the $220k stretch goal: Improvements to MagLev Depot. This means that if you added the MagLev Depot to your pledge--or if you do so in the Pledge Manager, now that the kick is done--the MagLev Depot that you will receive will be the new and improved Depot, with adjustable platforms, fixed ladders, and railed upper walkways. Again: thank you.

Now: let’s look at what’s next!

STRETCH GOALS and ADD-ONS: The PLEDGE LEVELS // REWARDS and ADD-ON OPTIONS images embedded in the Kick are all updated with the correct piece totals, reflecting everything that was added from stretch goals. Every stretch goal that was described as an add-on was for a previously-unavailable item that can be added on to your pledge for an additional fee. Now that the Kick is over, this can be done in the Pledge Manager.

PLEDGE MANAGER: we anticipate that the Pledge Manager on BackerKit will be up and running February 19th. There you will be able to select your color themes, add and pay for any other items you’d like to add to your pledge, and enter your shipping info. It is very important to keep an eye out for the email from BackerKit. We won’t be able to ship your items unless this information is collected in a timely manner. We’ll leave the Pledge Manager up for at least a month, to give everyone plenty of time to enter this information and to collect orders from any folks who missed out on the Kick.

IMPORTANT DATES:

February 19th - Pledge Manager on BackerKit opens.  Late pledge period begins.

March 19th - Pledge Manager closes.  Late pledge period closes.

August - Target for beginning to ship out rewards. Usual caveat for delays due to the pandemic.

FURTHER COMMUNICATIONS: With the crucial exception of the BackerKit email, we’ll continue to post to the Updates page for future communications regarding this Kick. Depending on your KS settings, these updates may hit your inbox as well.

And with that, TinkerTurf 2.1 is done. Thank you once again for all of your support. The response has been exhilarating, and validates all the hard work and effort we’ve poured into this enterprise. Everyone here at TinkerHouse Games is fired up to get this into your hands, and we’ve got a ton of momentum for the ongoing development of the NEXT two Kickstarters we have planned for this year. Just wait ‘til you see what’s next!

Sincerely,

Lane, Chris, Kristian, Mike, Mark, Kendall

PS

If there’s any gas in the tank, we invite you to check out these worthy campaigns from our friends:

Everway Silver Anniversary

TinkerLane counts two RPGs as being formative for expanding his horizon for what collaborative story telling and gaming could be beyond the D&D and MERPS he cut his teeth on.  One of them was the original Everway released in 1995 (the other is Earthdawn).  Everway is getting a new release which is on kickstarter right now.  A generation of evolutionary role playing systems after it owe a debt of gratitude to Everway, and if your an RPG aficionado we highly recommend supporting it.

Gods of Metal: Ragnarock

Imagine the RPG that Wayne and Garth would bust out to play with Ted Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esquire. With Doctor Rockso as GM. That’s Ragnarock. It’s a most excellent game of rock-and-role-playing adventures, with a legitimately interesting team-based mechanic under the hood. It’s also totally metal. For real, though: the dice are Zinc.

Ragnarock is from Hunter’s Entertainment, the folks behind Kids on Bikes, Outbreak Undead, and the Altered Carbon RPG. It’s got the high production values they’re known for, and some righteous add-ons and high-tier options.

Action Figure Adventure

Trailer

This group reached out to us during the kick and we think their project is pretty cool.  Synopsis:

Follow fanatic collector, Jay Bartlett across North America as he fronts the cash to build the ultimate action figure auction with all proceeds going to support critically and terminally ill children! Watch as Jay encounters the coolest, rarest and most noteworthy figures in history but with an ever-shrinking budget and dwindling timeframe.

Along the way we explore the evolution of action figures and meet key creatives behind the most powerful toys in the universe in packed segments that spotlight process, design,  scale, packaging, playsets, personal collections, and the importance of playtime.

Season one includes ten 24-minute episodes and features appearances by Brian Flynn, Kevin Smith, Pixel Dan, Tom Kalinske, Steve Sansweet, the team at Four Horsemen Toy Design, Brock Otterbacher from Mondo, Mark Taylor, Rudy Obrero, Val Staples, James Eatock, Britt Shotts and so many other amazing people from the toy industry.

$190k! 1000 Backers!!!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 12, 2021 at 05:29:10 PM

We're out of pithy things to say at the moment, and the tinker that writes the really good story posts is busy helping his kiddos with remote schooling.  So for this one you just get exhausted but earnest thankfulness from us at the end of a long, all consuming, but ultimately thrilling kick!

You're efforts have unlocked the final piece additions to the sets to add even more flexibility to the Perimeter Wall sets.  And we've crossed over the 1000 backer threshold!  Both incredible milestones for us.

You've tacked quite a bit of wall on over the kick. You're troops defending key assets will be grateful.

At the rate we're going, and with late pledges in mind, we feel pretty sure we'll get to a point where we can unlock the MagLev Depot Improvements by the end of the day.  Watch this space!  Keep sharing!  Let's get this thing to the end with a strong finish!!!

New Stretch Goals Being Added!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 10, 2021 at 09:48:48 PM

Well this is going well.

You've been too good at backing.  And we've run out of stretch goals. We're afraid there's only one thing to do on that front so... here are some final stretch goals for the closing hours of the kick.  We have until 6pm PST on Friday the 12th to reach these halcyon heights.  We believe in us!

$190k - Additional Corners in Perimeter Wall

At this level of funding we're going to add some quality of life improvement pieces into each Perimeter Wall set (in a bundle or as an add-on) in the form of additional corners.  In particular each set would now come with 4 (four) 60 degree corners and 4 (four) 90 degree corners.  So if you got the BIG bundle, it would come with 8 of each!  This will allow you build more complex wall shapes, perhaps wholly enclosed areas, or perhaps just bump out sections of wall.

Look at how non-linear the wall is now. Magnificent.

$220k - MagLev Depot Improvements

At this level of funding we'll add some long desired quality of life improvements, as well as some newly discovered engineering elements to the popular MagLev Depot set piece.  "But what improvements?" we hear you say?  Glad you asked!  Let's take a look at that MagLev Depot v2 pattern.

A familiar form and footprint, but closer inspection reveals some new bells and whistles.

Ladders

The ladders will be built into the face of the support legs instead of being separate pieces.  This is easier to assemble and bit more stable.

Adjustable platforms

We really loved the adjustable platform design on the SatComm Tower, so we're bring it over to the Depot.  This gives a TON of flexibility to this set piece now.  The platforms can be set at any of our standard platform heights.  The new seating actually makes the whole piece a little more rigid when assembled.  You can even double up 2 platforms to 1 side, or use the SatComm Tower platforms on the Depot legs if you have both sets!

Set them to different heights as needed...
...or use both on one side.

Improved Elbows

The elbow pieces now assemble easier, have the ladder built into them as well, and have a stair step up to our latest addition to the Depot shown shortly.

Where does the new stair step at the top lead? Read on faithful kickernaut!

Upper Walkways

When defending a critical piece of infrastructure like the MagLev Depot higher ground can be an important tactical advantage.  Fortunately this new pattern has you covered with 4 newly added walkway segments that are easily accessible from the support leg ladders.  Get your commander up there to survey the field, your sharpest eyed scout to scan the horizon, or your best snipers to deliver critical strikes on advancing enemies.  Or just take a break up there when you're between shifts, it's a really nice view of the ash wastes in the distance.  And don't even get me started on the sunsets.

The views from up there (and tactical sight lines) are just *chefs kiss* perfecto.

$250k - Reconfigured Elevations Add-On Set

At this level of funding we're going to add a newly configured version of the Elevations sets, the Elevations Add-On.  Why reconfigured?  The goal of this set is to give people a smaller, more affordable way to add the verticality they need to their table.  It will contain 1 of each platform, but more legs per platform than previously, and more extenders per platform, as well as ladders, catwalks, and stairs to access them.  As with all our reprints we're going to take a pass at the pieces for ease of assembly and quality improvements as well.  And we're going to offer this as a $25 add-on item in Neutral, Abandoned, Red, and Blue visual themes if we get there.

Now, be aware with this add-on we'd be entering Wave 2 territory.  Which is to say if we get here these items would not be shipped until December 2021.  All reward and add-on items previous to this would still be a Wave 1 shipment which we expect to happen in August as stated elsewhere.

---

Achieving this would be a monumental feat to cap off a kick that went better than we had dared to hope.  Keep sharing to help with awareness.  If you can tag on some add-ons now we'd be greatly appreciative.  All the funds we receive help us not only get this one onto all of our tables, but keep developing more terrain. So let's finish this strong!

$160k Stretch Goal Unlocked: Wall to Wall Options
about 3 years ago – Mon, Feb 08, 2021 at 11:58:23 PM

We've crossed over the $160k stretch goal!!! Thanks to your support, every Perimeter Wall will include six (6) extra components to allow for more variety in wall design:

"T" Stanchions, End Walls, Half Walls

The two (2) "T" Stanchions enable the construction of walls with interior partitions, or dramatic outward-facing buttresses.  The two (2) End Walls would serve perfectly as those structural supports. The two (2) Half Walls can simply be used to make a shorter wall spans for a more aesthetically pleasing look. Or, they can be combined with the T or 90 and 60 degree stanchions  to bend around natural obstacles or features, and thereby make more complex... complexes.

If no living bug comes over that wall, we cannot be harmed.

This Kickstarter is still levitating down the track on high powered superconductors until Friday, February 12 at 6:00pm PST. Now is the time to rally and see just how far we can take this kick. Share with friends, clubs, influencers. Get in touch with your favorite game and tell them to reach out to us for terrain customized for their particular IP. Consider bumping up your pledge with some of the cool add-ons you've unlocked. Let's finish strong. Every bit of extra effort will translate into more budget for our artists and engineers to devote to continued development of the product line, and is of course deeply appreciated by us.

To acknowledge the small but sturdily constructed chipboard elephant in the room, this was our last planned addition stretch goal.  We recognize that there's a good bit of week left and we're clearly still moving so we're talking about how we can add more goals in a way that doesn't hinder production timing or that would add things that don't make sense for the sets.

Great problems to have right?  You helped make them :)  Stay tuned, but for now as always...

Halcyon and add-on add-on
about 3 years ago – Mon, Feb 08, 2021 at 01:26:30 PM

Good evening intrepid Kickernauts, we decided on this final weekend that instead of slowly doling out the remaining add-on options everyone would be better served if in this final upcoming week we all knew what the definitive menu of options was for the kick. So...

Surprise!!! We're accelerating the schedule and opening up what was the $180k stretch goal... now.  Color Container Series 3 add-on is available to add to your pledge, here and in BackerKit after the campaign, priced at $15. These new colors give you the option to add even more variety to your battlefields:

Shown here in Industrial Yellow, Alpine White, and Hushed Casket Grey

But that's not all! Two more add-ons are now available for your consideration and purchase. The first surprise add-on is a standalone set of two towers. Not those  two towers; two additional towers matching the towers included with the Perimeter Gate:

Tower add-on available in Neutral or Abandoned

This $15 Guard Tower add-on features two towers, and two ladders, and two ladder stands which can be placed at any rung position to support troops that didn't quite make it all the way up.  The tower pylons serve as stanchions / connector points for panels from the Perimeter Wall set. Or, you can use them as standalone observation towers, sniper perches, or objective points.

The second surprise add-on is... Oh no.

We're sorry.

We're so, so sorry.

In a move that miniature warriors around the world and across space and time will surely rue, we are making available an add-on of what can only be described as DANGER CRATES

Danger! Explosion!

Each $10 Color Crates Series 1 add-on features twelve (12) crates with scary warning labels and alarming colors. 4 large, 4 medium, 4 small. Including the iconic Exploding Red Crate. These deadly beauties are perfect for adding a bit of dynamic danger to your battlefield. The exploding crate, sure. Any successful hit deals damage to all nearby models. But maybe the big yellow one emits constant damage to all living models in a certain radius? Maybe busting open the big purple unleashes a horrifying xenomorph. That rune-covered dark one? Mind-whispers makes the nearest model turn their weapon against the closest target. Have fun coming up with ways to use these to torment and destroy. Or, simply use them as high-visibility objective markers.

All three of these new add-ons are available to add to your pledge, here on Kickstarter or post-kick in BackerKit. Thank you so much for your continued support and enthusiasm. The final, $160k stretch goal is on the horizon, and we're looking forward to an exciting final week with you all.
