Hey kicknation,

First, a reminder that we added the MagLev Depot and Industrial Starter as pledge rewards and add-on options.

We're 1 week in to the minute, and very close to funding.  Thank you all.  We have a bunch of press coming up this week and next that will help with exposure, and some advertising partnerships about to launch as well.

As always, the most helpful thing you can do as backers to help this along is to boost awareness.  Post the kick on social, tell friends and LGSs about us, post in forums you're active on.  Miniature gamers that see us see the value we bring to their tables.

In addition to sharing the kick link, here are some videos you can share with links to the kick in the descriptions to help showcase table layouts for different games:

Warcaster & Warhammer 40k Table Example:

Necromunda Table Example:

Kill Team Table Example 1:

Kill Team Table Example 2:

We'll have table layouts that focus on Infinity and Gaslands coming later this week as well.

Thanks for the continued support and talk more very soon!

Original MagLev Depot & Industrial Starter Sets Now Available!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jan 23, 2021 at 03:21:02 AM

TL;DR: We added the MagLev Depot and Industrial Starter Sets to the campaign!

We heard many of you ask if you could get the terrain from the first kickstarter to combine with these new sets.  It took some doing but we made it work!  We're happy to announce we can add the MagLev Depot to the campaign.  Additionally we can add limited count of the Industrial Starter sets to the campaign (150 total for now).  Both products are available in Abandoned and Neutral.

The massive MagLev Depot in Abandoned.
The versatile and modular Industrial Starter in Neutral.

To add these to your sets simply adjust your pledge and select them as add-ons.

NOTE - If you bought an industrial starter on our web store over the campaign we'll be reaching out to your directly to refund the difference between the kick price and the store price.

We will be able to offer an unlimited amount of Industrial Starter sets if we cross the $80k mark.  And we will be releasing other sets as add-on options once we reach funding levels that can guarantee timely reprints.  Specifically the Scatter Cover and Containers sets will be added in at the $90k and $100k marks respectively.

Previous Kickstarter Sets
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 05:45:22 PM

We've heard the requests for the ability to order terrain from the previous Kickstarter. The good news is that the online store has many of those pieces available. The bad news is that some items and color variants are currently sold out, and obviously shipping prices to some areas are prohibitive.

We’ve got a reprint in the works, the challenge is to coordinate the timing of the reprint with the timing of the print run for this Kick. And you can help! If we soar past our goal for Sci-fi Release 2.1, we’ll be able to accelerate the reprint such that you’ll be able to add terrain from the reprint during this kick or in the Pledge Manager, and receive everything in one shipment with kick shipping prices. This saves time and money for everyone!

Thank you for your continued support! We’re thrilled at the response so far and grateful for your helping to spread the Kick to friends and influencers!  Still moving at a good clip, ONWARD!!!

Tinkers Play: Warcaster
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 05:44:46 PM

Hello all and welcome to a semi-regular feature we're going to do with the updates in the campaign:  We will play games with TinkerTurf, and take pictures, and write stuff.  We'll present these fairly unvarnished.  Us, playing games on our tables like you do, and taking some pictures of how the game plays on TinkerTurf.

We're going to start with a new mini's game from some good friends of ours, Warcaster by Privateer Press

Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika is a high-speed hobby miniatures game where players collect and customize a battle force of 35mm scale warriors and warjacks and play out epic, scenario- driven battles across a tabletop.

Warcaster differentiates itself from the pack with a couple of VERY cool mechanics.

  • Your deployment area changes as you play by virtue of you placing gates, and charging those gates with the resource you bring units onto the table with.
  • Each player has a deck of very powerful Cypher cards that they can buff, debuff, and damage with.  These add a lot of big moments to the game.
  • Most units can be brought back to the table if they're wiped off the table.  Sad you're favorite unit went off the board?  Bring em back next turn to wreak havoc!
  • Winning is entirely victory point focused in most play, and tabling your opponent doesn't usually win the game.  In our experience this focuses play on strategic decision making and not alpha combos.

All this adds up to a game that is a very fresh, enjoyable take on tactical squad based combat.  And their miniatures are flat out gorgeous as you'd expect from Privateer Press.

The Table

The table we're playing on is based on this shot you see here.  This would be one SciFi 2.1 Bundle from the kickstarter campaign, and one Industrial Starter - Standard set from the online store.  The mat is a FLG Mats: Cyberpunk City 1 4x4'.  The grey blocks are simply painted construction foam :)

Any white TinkerTurf pieces are non-colored factory samples. The final versions will be full color.

The Short Sweet Battle Report

(all players live in the same bubble-group, no COVID risk behavior happened here)

Lane was playing the Aeternus Continuum, while Eric was playing Iron Star Alliance.  While Lane had an early numbers advantage, some bad rolls and some over extension mean that the ISA had time to field more resilient units and eventually drive Lane's AC from the victory points.  Lane 0, Eric 1.

How it started.
How it's going.
We may need to bring a bigger jack...
Things looked hopeful for a moment for the AC at this point. Then some terrible DEF rolls took their toll.
In the end the ISA was able to hold the objective points in the scoring rounds.
